PRAYER FOCUS

Prayer.jpg

In Sunday’s Gospel (Luke 3:10-18) we are called to be the best at who we are and do everything with love. This is the season of a million preparations. We spend time and money getting ourselves and our homes ready to celebrate Christmas. This reading asks us to consider more seriously the part of Advent that prepares our hearts and lives for the time when Christ will come again. Like the people in John the Baptist’s time, we need to ask ourselves what we need to do to get ready for Jesus.

LEADERSHIP REPORT - Ginaya Yarnold, Donna Sprague and Kate de Bressac

Dear Parents and Carers

Prayer_2.jpg

Lord Jesus,
Be near us now as we light the third candle of our Advent wreath.
As the light grows brighter, we are reminded that you are already here,
in your Word, in your Church, in the faces of those in need, and our love for each other.
Amen

As Week 10 draws to a close, we are on the countdown to the end of the 2021 school year. Congratulations to all students who continue to follow our rules of being respectful, responsible, resilient and resolute right to the end, despite becoming tired, excited about upcoming holidays and new classes and limited spaces to play due to wet weather. Next Wednesday will be the last day of school for students.

Uniform_Store.jpg

New Uniform

St Agnes' Uniform Store will close today and reopen on January 4. The new uniforms can be put on layby at any point up till their arrival at the end of January. We have been pleased with the positive feedback from new Kinder parents who saw the uniforms at the information evening this week. We are excited for the students to begin wearing this more practical uniform beginning next year.

Holiday Hair Cuts

A reminder for families that have children who like cut out designs and other trendy mullet hairstyles, that holiday time is the time to have fun and experiment with these hairstyles. Upon their return to school we expect that all students will follow the school uniform policy of neat, tidy hairstyles eliminating cut out designs and will have their hair tied back off their face for learning, with hair ties used for all students with shoulder length hair or longer. We appreciate your support with this in following school policy.
Accendere.jpg
On Wednesday Year Four students participated in a spiritual retreat focussing on the importance of friendship and the impact of our actions on others. The children were involved in a variety of fun group activities to promote positive relationships and continue to follow Jesus' message of loving others.

Kindergarten 2022 - Orientation and Information Night

On Tuesday our 2022 Kindergarten students and families visited for their final step in the transition process. Students had a wonderful time enjoying learning and playing in their new classrooms with their class teacher for next year. Parents were welcomed to our school community through the sharing of key information and building connections with other families within their child's grade. We appreciate them making time to attend this information evening.

2022 Teachers

On Tuesday all the students were excited to find out who their teacher will be next year.

Book_Packs.jpg
Yesterday children from Kindergarten to Year Four brought home their Class Pack for 2022. Unfortunately due to a supply issue, Year 5 (2021) Class Packs will not be available until these students come in for their MAI assessments during Week 1 of Term 1 next year. If you have a child starting in Kindergarten in 2022, and you have a current child at St Agnes', the Kindergarten Class Pack has been given to the eldest sibling here at school.

Year One Virtual Reality Writing Lesson!

We were so grateful this week to Sarah Blundell, Lyn Kelly and Robyn Fitzpatrick for coming and teaching our students how to use the Virtual Reality headsets in Year One. We went on an amazing journey from Santa’s workshop, all around the world and experienced what it was like to ride in Santa’s sleigh! We had a problem with the reindeer and had to push the magic button. We then had to write down what we saw, how we felt and and what we heard. After the lesson, it was time for us to use all of our amazing vocabulary to write about our adventures. Take a look at our photos!

Craft_Sale.jpg
Craft for Service items are still for sale in the front office. Throughout the 2021 school year, staff and students have worked together creating exciting gifts to be sold with the profits going to charity. This year a total of $3,466.80 has been raised through this initiative. Thank you to all involved from Michelle Gerathy and her crafty brain, to our gorgeous students who give up their lunch times to gain new skills and make items to be sold through to our family and community members who purchase them.

Thank_God.jpg
  • We are blessed to have so many students offering to help out with end of year jobs around the school.
  • Thank you to our amazing Craft for Service volunteers who have donated their time and friendship to create wonderful items with Aunty Michelle during their lunch times throughout 2021.
  • To the families who work in partnership with staff to improve outcomes for our students in both academics and behaviour support.
  • We are grateful to all users of the Carpark pickup system who are appreciative of the service offered and follow staff instructions to ensure the safety of our students and families.
  • Thank God for those students who enter the school gate in the morning, greeting staff with enthusiasm and wishing them a great day.

Swimming Carnival

It was with great reluctance that we had to cancel our 2022 Swimming Carnival. The wet weather prevented us from using outdoor spaces that we needed to comply with COVID-19 restrictions. We share in the disappointment of our students, and we appreciate the resilience and patience that was shown with yet another cancellation

Zone Swimming Trials and Zone Swimming Carnival

Our school swimming trials will be held at Wauchope Pool on Friday 11 February 2022. This event is for all students aged 8 and over who would like to represent St Agnes’ in the Hastings Zone Carnival. There is a very short turn around for this, with the Zone Carnival being held on Tuesday 15 February at Macksville. Transport to both of these events will be by bus and will be organised by the school. We will send notes for this event home shortly.

Summer Sports Trials

Congratulations to those children who trialled for Tennis and Basketball this week. Notes for children who have been selected for the Hastings Zone teams should have been handed out at the trial events.
